Emily and Chris had such a wonderful Spanish theme that was carried throughout their entire wedding. I knew as soon as I arrived and saw all of the forethought and details that there wedding would be perfect for The Knot magazine. I was so happy and excited that their wedding was featured in this Fall’s issue of the D.C., VA, MD region of the Knot Magazine. Their wedding was held at The Barns at Hamilton Station Vineyards in Hamilton, Virginia. The Barns at Hamilton Station has quickly become a very popular spot for weddings because of its laid back and inviting atmosphere. There is an abundance of photography opportunities too which makes it a favorite venue of mine.
Here’s a little bit of Chris & Emily’s love story: “Chris and I both studied abroad in Spain while in undergrad in the Spring of 2004. He was in Madrid and I was in Seville. He actually even visited Seville when I was there but we never met. After college we both got our first jobs in the Golden Triangle neighborhood of Washington, DC, him at Peace Corps and me at Edelman Public Relations. Just a few blocks away, but still we never met. After both getting MBAs, we decided to devote time to romance and joined Match.com. He saw my profile, which was titled, “So it’s come to this…” and sent me a sweet note outlining all the things we had in common. We met for our first date at Baked & Wired in Georgetown, grabbed a coffee, walked to the waterfront and the rest they say is history. In August 2012, we went to Spain for the first time together and on our second night in Barcelona, we walked to Park Guell which is on top of a mountain overlooking the city. Beneath a sunset sky and Spanish guitar in the background, he proposed. I of course said yes!”
And a bit of wedding planning advice from Emily: “I followed the advice that I received from many which is to have fun with the wedding planning process. At the very core, weddings recognize and celebrate the bride, the groom, their family and friends, and all the happy days to come – how can you get stressed out about something so beautifully simple?”
