I love color… yes I do! When winter comes sometimes photographers go into hibernation, not necessarily on purpose, but we look outside at our bare trees and wonder when spring will come again. Not me. I have to admit that I love winter sessions. I really love winter sessions. I love snow, I love the bare landscape, and I also love challenging myself to find new locations or different possibilities. I think winter presents the perfect photography challenge. And I do like a challenge 🙂
This particular location stays green all year long. You would never know that this shoot took place in December would you? It would be the prefect place for a winter wedding, bridals, family shoot, or even a trash the dress session. I adore this spot and always find that the light is so delicious in the evening. Have you noticed that in the winter the light changes? Even though it’s cold outside, the evening sunsets have a warmer tone to them. It really can make a photo magical. The other plus to a winter session is the wardrobe. Who doesn’t love fabulous scarves, sweaters, the boots, the layers?? I love all these elements and they add such great texture and dimension to your photos so when you think about photography and a good time to do it, don’t ever rule out winter 🙂
I have had the pleasure of getting to know this fun family this past year. Julie is the creative genius behind Simply Bows and I have done a lot of photography for her web site. Anyway, I get to handle her products up close. Her bows are simply the best around. She can even monogram them and they make a perfect, personalized gift. She doesn’t just have bows, but wraps and clothing. I really like her stuff and I know you will too, so stop on over to her site to check out the goods!
P.S. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! And for you photogs out there, I primarily edited these photos in Adobe Camera Raw using MCP’s ACR presets which you can find here http://www.mcpactions.com/lightroom-presets.html It made my workflow super fast!
Winter light, I wish you were here year round.
