I remember back in 2009 when I was living in Panama and Rachel’s family was also living there at the time. In fact her family lived just down the road from us in a neighborhood called Albrook. Rachel worked at the embassy on her summers off from college. Whenever I saw her she always had a smile on her face because that’s just the kind of person she is, happy! I didn’t know her as well as I knew the rest of her siblings. Her little brother was friends with my kids and her younger sister Megan, was our babysitter. When you live in a foreign country with other Americans you have know idea how your paths might cross again in the future. Turns out that our world is pretty small and when we moved back to Virginia, a year later her family did also.
I happened to be in Charming Charlies one day and ran into Rachel. It was fun to catch up on things but never did I think that just a year later she would be engaged to be married. So enter Bryan. Bryan met Rachel while attending college but at the time Rachel was in a long term relationship (something like 5 years) with a gentleman in the army. Bryan always admired Rachel from afar but knew she was off limits so he was just “friends” and nothing more came of it until…. he ran into Rachel after graduation and asked her how she was doing and how her boyfriend was etc. As it turned out Rachel was single and Bryan did not waste any time at all. Pretty soon he called her up for a date and the rest, well you know. They are getting married this June in a sweet little church in Aldie and I get to photograph it. I love being the quiet observer that also gets to capture history in the making. It’s the best job and I’m blessed to be able to do it.
Congratulations Rachel & Bryan! P.S. Leave them some blog love and help them earn a free print. Just 30 comments on the blog and they win!
You’ve made regular old Leesburg look like the most romantic town in Virginia! Love these. Also doesn’t hurt that the couple is adorable!
Love the photos in Old Town Leesburg…my husband and I walked up that street to the courthouse to get our marriage license. Wish we had you to photograph us!
