Trying to establish a new business when you’ve moved to an area is no easy task. It takes soooo much work and really, I am surprised sometimes that I am where I am today — not saying that I have “arrived” yet, but I am working on it. I underestimated how involved having a photography business is. First off, you have to find the clients, then you have to arrange the shoot, process the images and deliver them, then there is all the business stuff like taxes, receipts, equipment purchases etc. Really it’s ridiculous the amount of work that goes into what may appear to be a pretty easy job. When I first got started, I had no idea that being a photographer was so much more involved than just meeting a nice family, snapping some pics, and you’re done! Boy was I so wrong. Gratefully, I love photography so much that I can see past the things I don’t like and enjoy doing my passion for my job. Why am I telling you this?? I suppose it’s been on my mind a lot lately 🙂
When Maryland photographer, Daniel Merino, contacted me back in June about photographing his January wedding, I was so flattered and appreciative because as a fellow photographer, he knows what goes into this business. Daniel also shoots weddings and corporate events, but obviously he couldn’t shoot his own wedding. He found me online and I am so glad he did because Daniel and Jeni are just as sweet as they come. Here is the note I got from Jeni in my inbox after the shoot that made my week:
Your extremely happy customer,
